Ken Colao is a recognized leader and entrepreneur in the construction industry with over 40 years of experience as a principal of several major firms, working on high-profile domestic and international assignments, including many award-winning projects.

As the Founder, President, and CEO of CNY Group, Ken heads the solutions-driven Manhattan-based company that has spearheaded change in the industry, including the adoption of “open shop” construction for large-scale development. Embracing a forward-thinking approach, Ken continually challenges the norms to create value and guide CNY with a vision that demonstrates how businesses can be a force for good. He leads the CNY team in delivering the company’s proven best practices and technical prowess, sustainability expertise, and DEIB social standards as it transitions to a “B” Corp.

Ken’s unwavering dedication to education, mentorship, and the early adoption of ESG and SDG initiatives supports his roles as Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors for the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT), and Chair of the Board of Advisors for the Hillier School of Architecture and Design. He received his BSCE from NJIT where he was also honored with the University’s Alumni Achievement Award, is among its Top 30 Influencers, and was a Featured Speaker at the Sustainability Symposium. He also serves on the Board of Governors for the New York Building Congress and is a member of the board of AHRC of New York City.

For over 30 years, YPO (Young Presidents’ Organization), a worldwide organization of 31,000 Chief Executives across 143 countries dedicated to cultivating exceptional leaders, has played a significant role in Ken’s career. He has held positions on the boards of YPO Metro, Metro Gold, and Big Apple Gold, and has participated in various panels and global summits and roundtables. Ken served as Champion for YPO’s first Global Virtual Roundtable on ESG—An Emerging Influence in our Society, Industry, and Businesses.
