John G.J. Ritter joined Sholom & Zuckerbrot Realty in 1978 and has been a Partner since 1992. John is an active member of the Real Estate Board of New York (REBNY), former board member of the Young Men’s and Women’s Real Estate Association (YM/WREA) former President of the Industrial & Office Real Estate Brokers Association (IOREBA). Mr. Ritter is also a board member of Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce and The Brooklyn Alliance and a member of the New York Academy of Sciences.
After practicing as a Professional Engineering in the nuclear power industry, John joined S&Z and quickly became one of the top real estate brokers in the firm. He has leased and sold millions of square feet of building and land and represented numerous Fortune 500 companies. Some of his largest transactions include the sale subsequent leasing of the 485,000 sf Bulova Corporate Center, the sale and leasing of 500,000 square feet of buildings to Variety Accessories, Inc. in Brooklyn, Queens and New Jersey, the sale of the 31 acre Port Authority Grain Terminal in Brooklyn, the 290,000 square foot Daily News printing plant in Brooklyn and the sale of the 1,200,000 square foot Delco Moraine General Motors Plant in Bristol CT. John exclusively represented the State of New York in Brooklyn and Queens the Bronx and Staten Island. He is currently Team Leader exclusively representing the City of New York.
In the mid 1990’s the partners of S&Z formed Octagon Properties LLC, a real estate development and investment organization that has acquired and developed retail, office and industrial buildings throughout the boroughs and Long Island. Octagon’s stable of tenants include CVS, Rite Aid, the Home Depot, Petland Discounts, Allied Building Materials and Duralee Fabrics among others. John spearheaded S&Z’s expansion into real estate management and the Management Division currently oversees over 1 million square feet of property.
John has been licensed as a Professional Engineer in New York and Colorado for 30 years and a licensed Real Estate Broker for 25 years.
