Guthrie Garvin is a Managing Director at JLL, were he focusses on representing NYC building owners in the sale of their properties. Mr. Garvin has been involved in the sale of properties with an aggregate value of over $1.8 billion. Previously, he was Senior Vice President of Sales at Massey Knakal Realty Services, which was acquired by Cushman & Wakefield on December 31, 2014. Guthrie handled the largest sale in Massey Knakal history for $282 million and a partial list of his clients include: Slate Real Estate Partners, Archdiocese of NY, Delshah Capital, BlackRock, The Society of Jesus, Simon Baron Development, Boricua College, and the Diocese of Brooklyn.
Mr. Garvin is involved in many different aspects of the real estate community. He received his Master’s degree in Real Estate from New York University and taught there as an adjunct professor. He has been quoted in various publications including The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, New York Post, Gotham Magazine, and Real Estate Weekly.
Prior to real estate, Mr. Garvin worked with Novartis Pharmaceuticals as a senior sales consultant. He was a member of its marketing and leadership development teams, was an international sales trainer and was named Salesman of the Year. Before Novartis, he worked as a full-time volunteer on the island of Chuuk in Micronesia.
Mr. Garvin is an active participant in the nonprofit world. He serves on the board of trustees for the James Lennox House where he chairs the fundraising committee and is a member of the nominating committee. He is a member of the advisory board of Cristo Rey New York High School- a nonprofit high school that combines on-the-job work experience with academics.
Mr. Garvin was born and raised in New York City. He attended Regis High School on the Upper East Side and graduated from Fordham University. He was a varsity soccer player at Fordham and continues to play soccer, tennis, and golf as well as compete in triathlons in his free time.
